Replacement Instructions

1. Remove snap ring (#9) using a small flat bladed tool to work from
groove while compressing the End Plate (#11).

2. Disassemble as shown and reassemble as shown at left, disregarding
part #14, the filter gasket, which is separate from this assembly.

3. While depressing the End Plate which clears the groove on the Nut
(#17), install the new GP– A2444R Snap ring. Hook one side of snap ring
in the groove and apply downward pressure on the opposite side of the
snap ring. This will cause snap ring to flex and open wider, allowing the
unhooked portion of the snap ring to slide into the groove.

4. The new snap ring is flat with a small indent to allow easier removal
with your thumbnail or small flat bladed tool for future servicing. The flat
snap ring will self-center in the groove which has a radius or rounded
profile on the Nut (#17).

5. The closed-end and ground Stainless Steel Spring ( GP– A2441R ) will
provide a more uniform and sure contact to the filter base by the End
Plate as both ends of the spring make full contact to the End Plate and
Washer.
